- ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪Brought my dog in because he had been losing weight and seemed depressed. The vet told me that he had worms, without running any blood or fecal tests to check and even though I said I was deworming him monthly. She decided that because he lived on a farm he must have worms. She said that in two weeks he would start to gain weight after deworming him. Well, in two weeks we were going on vacation and left him in the care of friends. We called a few days in and they asked if he was a picky eater (he was). When we got home he was skin and bones because he hadn't eaten and we rushed him to the Ohio State University emergency room. They diagnosed him with cancer that was spread all throughout his body. A simple blood draw/CBC would have revealed that there was a problem weeks before.m, and we would have either euthanized him prior to going on vacation or made arrangements to take him along with us.
